Dr Karen Karapetyan was born and grew up in Yerevan. He studied in Moscow (1988-1992). He then studied in the Melkonian Institute, graduating in 1997. He continued his studies in Economics and International Relations in Keele University in England, obtaining his BA degree in 2000 (as one of the youngest graduates). In 1999 he worked in Armenian Embassy in London. Over the years he has been active within the Diasporic communities. After 2000 he continued his graduate studies in International Politics obtaining his doctorate degree (PhD) at the age of 24. With his thesis on State-Reification he has put forward what has been regarded as a new poststructuralist theory of State in political and international studies. After that he continued his activist endeavors eventually jump-starting a network of left-wing political activists. At the same time he also pursued a dual carrier as a film-maker and an academic, while gradually returning to Armenian politics. |
