Gohar Gasparyan also known as the "Armenian nightingale" was an Armenian opera singer, USSR People's Artist.
Born in an Armenian family in Cairo, Gasparyan studied at a Music Academy in the city. In 1948 she migrated to Soviet Armenia along with hundreds of thousands of other Armenians from the Middle East. From 1949 she performed at the Armenian Opera Theater in 23 operas during her long career, as well as performing at concerts. She also taught at Yerevan State Musical Conservatory. Her performances are: Anoush, Shoushan (A. Tigranyan's "Anoush"), "David Bek" Rozina (Rossini's "The Barber of Seville"), Karine, Olympia (T. Chukhajyan's "Leblebijy", "Arshak II"), Margarita (Guno's "Faust"). Her concert play list includes Bach, Mozart, Hendel, Straus, Grig, Rakhmaninov, Komitas. She has had performances in Soviet Union cities, Iran, Japan, South American countries, USA, England.
She had wide range of voice, excellent technique of performance.
