Mher Mkrtchyan was born in Gyumri.
In 1945-46 he studied at the Studio at the Theater after Mravyan and was involved in the main group of the theater in 1947.
Since 1953 he has performed in the Sundukyan Drama Theatre of Yerevan., finished Art-dramatic Institute (supervisor V. Vagharshyan).
His cinema career began in 1959 with the debut in the short film "01 99".
His talent and emotional deepness was expressed in his numerous theatrical roles and cinema.
Comedy and tragedy are combined in his art and performances, together with splendid sense of humor, impressive way of expression.
Since 1955 has starred in films. Directed "On the Bottom," based on Gorki's play. Has starred in many films of other film studios (Mosfilm, Gorky Film-Studio in Moscow, etc.): "Aybolit - 66," "The Captive Girl of Caucasus," "Don't Be Upset," "Mimino," "Ali Baba and Forty Bandits," etc.
