Ervand Kochar is an Armenian Soviet Sculptor, painter, graphic, USSR People's Artist.
In 1922 he moved abroad. He was awarded silver medals for some of his sculptures in Constantinople and Venice.

Later he visited Florence, Rome and beginning with 1923 developed his activities in Paris, co-exhibiting his works together with such outstanding artists, as A. Matisse, P. Picasso, Zh. Brack, F. Leje, De Kiriko were in the saloons of Independents, Autumn and Fresco.
The impact of cubism, symbolism, futurism, surrealism, expressionism, neoclassicism in his works is evident in this period.

In 1936 he came back to Armenia, becoming active participant of the events ion the world of art, providing our figures of art world with the developments in this area worldwide. In 1955 he sculpted his most famous sculpture - the Zvartnots Eagle. In 1959 he created the monument of David of Sasoun, for which he was awarded the USSR State Prize.
Vardan Mamikonyan's monument is also made by him.

His creations-masterpieces are available in different parts of Armenia, as well as in private collections and museums in Europe, Armenia and former USSR.
